In 2003, Queer to the Left and defense attorneys on behalf of Eddie Hartman, a gay man in North Carolina, worked to build a coalition of national LGBTQ organizations to ask NC Governor Michael Easley to commute Eddie’s death sentence to life in prison without parole. At Eddie’s trial, the prosecutor made use of Eddie’s homosexuality to turn the jury against him. He was executed by that state on October 3, 2003.
a coalition campaign against this execution, Queer to the Left cosponsored a print advertisement, available here in PDF format.
